🏛️ Courthouse Entrance Requirements

💼 Transcripts and Exhibits

- To order rush transcripts, reach out directly to the Court Reporter, Stephanie Austin, Telephone number: 607-743-1894.
- Parties have 30 days to request transcript redaction. Otherwise, transcript will be made remotely electronically available to the public without redaction after 90 calendar days. Policy is available here. You can order them from the Court Reporter in the interim.
- During trial, once an exhibit is “admitted” into evidence, the parties have the
responsibility of posting it to their respective website for public/media access by the next day.

⌛ Trial Dates and Times

The trial begins on September 9th. It is expected to last 4 - 6 weeks.
- General schedule: 9:00AM - 6:00PM, Monday through Friday, with approx. 1 hour recess.
- Courthouse opens at 8:00AM daily.
- Clerk’s Office open from 8:30AM - 5:00PM daily.
- On most Fridays, trial will start at 9:30AM
- 1-hour lunch break, normally from 1:00PM - 2:00PM
- Days will wind down at 5:50PM to reconcile exhibits.
- Changes to the trial schedule will be posted here at least one day in advance: www.vaedonline.uscourts.gov/schedules/w_tomorrow1.html
- ❗ Scheduling updates and deviations from normal schedule
- On firt day of trial, September 9, as well as on days when other judges have jury trials, grand jury trials or naturalization proceedings, there will be significant delays clearing security, so arrive early.
- Thursday, September 19th is naturalization day so will be super crowded getting into courthouse
- Tuesday, September 24th will end early at 4:30PM
- The trial will occur in Courtroom 700 on the 7th floor.
- There will be reserved seating for credentialed members of the media in the first three rows of the witness box side of the courtroom.
- The credentialing process is below.
- Courtroom 701 will serve as the Overflow room, and will contain seating for approximately 150 people.
- There will be two large screens to allow attendees to see and hear what is happening.
- Seating is first-come, first-served.
- There is no advanced notice of court being closed to observers.

🪪 Press Passes
</aside>
- Passes are available beginning Thursday, September 5th, 2024 from either Operations Manager Judith Lanham or Operations Supervisor Whitney Garnett in the Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the Courthouse.
- Clerk’s Office open daily from 8:30AM to 5:00PM.
- Valid ID and evidence of media status are required.
- Because seating is limited, passes to not guarantee a seat in the reserved section. Media personnel with a pass unable to get a seat in the reserved section will need to find a seat in unreserved areas of Courtroom 700 open to public, or Courtroom 701.
- Note: Accordingly, even with a press pass, you should plan to arrive early to secure a seat.
